Gtx460 vs gtx 470.. what do you think is the best?

Hi, i was planing to get the gts460 for my new machine but they only have the 768Mb version. so i decided on going to the 470. Currently they don't have it in stores, how much will it be. and also, will i be able to see a major difference in GFX performance?

thanks

-b-|||What do you mean that they only have the 768Mb Version? Look here

GTX 460's: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Productcom…

The EVGA FTW Edition is better here.

GTX 470's: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Productcom…

A close tie between these 4. I'd go with the GIGABYTE one or the EVGA FTW one

So, if you have the money and are willing to spend $100 more for the GTX 470 then go ahead. It's better. But if you don't pick the GTX 460 because it's still a freakin good choice. Any more questions? Glad to help.

Palit gtx460 or evga gtx 460¿?

I thnk evga is better but I dnt hve to much spce left in my cabinet

as I could compare palit is smaller!and about psu vip 500would be good enough?|||go for EVGA|||get the EVGA.it is better brand.that VIP 500w power supply definitely will not handle cards like GTX 460.you need good quality power supply from brands like corsair, antec, seasonic.get Corsair CX500V2 500 watts power supply for Rs.3000.

a very good alternative for GTX 460 is Radeon HD 6850.it is slightly faster than GTX 460 at stock and require less power.it is in the same price range of GTX 460.you can consider MSI Radeon HD 6850 PE/OC for Rs.9500-9800 over GTX 460.

however, for either card you need power supply upgrade.|||i will go for EVGA,but ATI RADEON HD series is still the best...

Until when nvidia GTX460 are relevance?

I try to survey this stuff.|||If you mean to ask if the GTX 460 is a modern, fast graphics chip that will still be relevant and capable of playing games for a while, the answer is yes. That chip is currently in the upper mid level of nVidia's graphics processors. It's not the fastest they offer, but is a very good value in terms of performance per dollar (or whatever currency). It will be able to play new games for quite some time.

Which is better Gainward GTX460-1024-DUALDVI-HDMI-GS-GL… or MSI R4870x2-T2D2G-OC?

HD 4870 has similar performance as the HD 5770. They have the same number of stream processors. Here's a benchmark that shows when the HD 5770 is Crossfired, it can even be ahead of the GTX 470.

http://www.techreport.com/articles.x/194…

With the latest ATI driver, expect HD 4870 X2 performance to be at GTX 470 level.|||GTX460 all the way up! It has a performance like @ GTX 285 levels, yes, it isn't more powerful than the 4870x2, but is newer, cheaper, and has Directx 11 support , and the 4870 hasn't. BTW it requires less power to work, and runs cooler.

Is it possible in anyway for the GTX460 to do Tri Sli?

I just would like to know, if in anyway, is it possible for the GTX460 to do tri sli. I know it only has one connector for the Sli bridge, so using a tri sli bridge is out of the question.

I have:

AMD Phenom II X6 1090T @ 4ghz

Corsair Dominator 8GB DDR3 1333mhz

2x Palit GTX 460's Sonic Platinum

Corsair Hydro H70

Asus Sabertooth 990fx

I have a few ideas on how it could work;

1) Have the first card in a x16 slot, then the second one in an x16 slot with the sli bridge connected to a third card at x8. The monitor would be plugged in to the first card

2) Just have all cards in these slots, x16, x16, x8

3) Maybe have both the x16 cards connected with the bridge, then just have the third card in an x8 slot.

It it possible at all?

Thank you!|||No,its not possible.

Which graphics card is best for gaming from these two nvidia gtx460 or ati radeon hd 5870?

which graphics card is best for gaming from these two nvidia gtx460 or ati radeon hd 5870|||In terms of gaming, the ATi Radeon HD 5870 is better. The HD 5870 is the equivalent to the GTX 480.

The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 is the equivalent to the HD 5770 or HD 5850.|||I am an Gamer , i have nividia 220 GT , its nice and Great, I prefer nividia.|||nvidia

Should U get a Gtx460 or x2 HD5770?

So I am planning on getting a new computer. So now im wondering. "Should I get a Gtx460 or x2sapphire 5770"

The Gtx460 is 1 gb and costs 200€ and the 2 Sapphires cost 240€

And I dont know about the Sapphire since some people use to get problems with them.|||Dual HD 5770 performance is more comparable to the HD 5870 and would even beat the GTX 470.

http://www.techreport.com/articles.x/194…

But also consider the new HD 6870.

http://www.techreport.com/articles.x/198…

Its cost could be lower than that of a dual HD 5770 set up

MSI GTX460 and 9800gt using all outputs?

I am the GTX460 for chrimbo, so i was wondering:

This sounds stupid but could i use the outputs, from the 3 outputs of the GTX and the 2 on the GT. They will not be in SLI. But the GT will run as deciaceted physx :)

Thanks :D|||I personally do not recommend doing that. I am not completely sure if it will work out or not, but if you want to use your 9800 GT for PhysX processing, then just continue using the GTX 460 outputs. If you really do want to use more outputs, try getting another GTX 460 in SLI so it would become super fast and you can still use your 9800 GT for PhysX processing.

Can a gtx460 1gb run games on 1080p maxed out or i need a better one?

here's my rig

core2quad q8300 2.5ghz

2gb ddr2 800

320gb WD + 500gb seagate (external)

benq E2220HD 21.5" 1080p

i want to maxed out all new games so tell me?|||Yes and no.

yes you can play all the modern games on max setting with the card

will you want to play them on full settings? No, because the frame rate will be real low.

most games will run fine, but more demanding games will not work well with that card on full settings.|||hi karen

yes, with your system specs which are pretty good you should have no problems running games with the GTX460 ... however as one of the other answers stated it also depends on the games your playing... for example "crysis" and "metro 2033" are two of the most demanding pc games you can get and even with a powerful cpu and a GTX460 you may not be able to run these games maxed out

your 2gb memory is another limiting factor.... when running games at higher resolutions your best to have 4gb of memory.... and allthough 2gb should be ok you may find some of the more recent games have a 3gb recommended requirement.....

but you should be fine.....

good luck !|||yes, with your system specs which are pretty good you should have no problems running games with the GTX460 ... however as one of the other answers stated it also depends on the games your playing... for example "crysis" and "metro 2033" are two of the most demanding pc games you can get and even with a powerful cpu and a GTX460 you may not be able to run these games maxed out

It will run most games at high settings, not max, and not without slowdowns. even card like the 6990 or 590 can't run all games on max (current top end dual-gpu cards by ati and nvidia msrp ~$700), the 460 is a good card and priced well for performance.|||I would suggest to buy XFX Radeon HD 6870 1 GB DDR5 Graphics Card

The HD6870 is the next step in the graphics evolution by AMD. Cutting-edge graphic, display and memory technology enable you to fly through the most demanding HD titles with ease.

http://www.amazon.com/XFX-Radeon-6870-Gr…|||Depends on the games, but it should be quite capable of running games at that resolution.

Is it ok to run a gtx460 with a 240wat power supply?

Its on and running.. I understand i won't get top performance but thats fine with me until I get my 700watt a 4pin connector for my motherboard. should i worry about loss of life span?|||It's very dangerous. At best, your computer may refuse to boot with the VGA card. At worst, your PSU can short-circuit and fry all your computer. I suggest you change your power unit ASAP|||no|||No, it isn't, the video card will try to draw more power than the PSU can supply, which can damaged the motherboard and/or the video card.

"Minimum System Requirements

Which is better 5770hd or gtx460?will both of these graphic card run in my pc and what is its price in chennai?

my pc configuration

intel core 2 duo e7200@2.53 ghz

windows 7

17 inches lcd hp monitor

msi boston 1.0 motherboard

500watts zebronics platinum power supply|||Both will work and the GTX 460 is a lot better. And you find out the price in chennai, seeing as you are there and should be able to figure it out.|||GTX 460 is Faster than HD 5770.HD 5770 costs around Rs.8000 and GTX 460 will cost around RS.11000-12000.

looks like your power Supply can run HD 5770 not the GTX 460.here are the specs.GTS 460 requires a 550 watts of power Supply along with two 6 pin PCI-E power Connectors not just one.your power supply only provides 22 amperes on +12V rail which is not sufficient for GTX 460.

http://www.zebronics.net/500W_platinum_p…

but you don't need either of those cards for 17 inch monitor.you can handle most games on HIGH settings even with HD 5670 and GT 240 on that monitor.|||Hey I'm from Chennai too.

Answering your question nVidia GTX 460 is better than ATI 5750 as well as 5770.

But seeing your configuration I reckon a GTS 450 would work fine. It is Direct X 11 compatible. Same performance like 460 but with slightly low resolution, but just fine for your 17" monitor. You won't notice much of a game play difference da.. Also 460 is costly. It's priced around 10k. So 450 would be a better choice.

Do you have any idea where I can buy a GTS450 for Cheap in Chennai? Graphics card prices are very high in Ritchie Street. Where do you buy Graphics Cards in Chennai?.. Help me out. Send me an email please..

wahiditsme@yahoo.co.in|||see 460gtx is almost 50% faster than hd5770.but considering price it virtually has no competitor.hd 5770 will cost u around rs.9k but 460 gtx will cost u 13k.but considering ur confoguration u should upgrade ur processor and go for hd 5670 or 9800gtx (both r round 6k)if u want to play games.|||as above said , GTX 460 is better and also costlier than 5770 HD

but u don't require those cards due to ur screen resolution ,

so either get some card around 5000 Rs , or get these cards only if u r thinking about upgrading monitor and rest of the parts in near future (say 6 months)|||GTX 460 is better.

Is the GTX460 better then the GTX550 TI?

Okay so I currently have the ASUS GTX550 Ti. And I was looking around at graphics cards and their reviews and thoughts, and their were actually a few people saying that the GTX460 is better then the GTX550 Ti. Now I thought it was the higher number the better? is the GTX460 really better then the GTX550 Ti?|||http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Zotac…

yes, it's better.|||Yes.|||It is. Look up a benchmark sometime.|||Tomshardware.com will tell you.

9800GTX+ SLI or single GTX460?

I have a single 9800GTX+ right now and I'm wondering whats the best option for an upgrade. Do I put 180-200 dollars for a single gtx460? Or do I put around 100-120 bucks for another 9800GTX+ and run it in SLI with the card that I already have?|||Go 460. Its a newer card. More power efficient.

Overall it is a good card. I would get it but I got the ATI 4890HD for the same price as a GTX460.|||If you don't have a ton of money to spend and you think you will stick with your current motherboard for a while, I would go with sli. It works fine and games don't have to be written for it in order for it to make a difference. as far as directx is concerned its just 1 card.|||I've found SLI to be glitchy. And if the game wasn't written to take advantage of SLI technology you won't see a performance increase. So I think it would be way better to get the gtx460.

Can i use Nvdia GTX460 for intel(R)core(TM)i3,530@2.93GHZ…

Nvdia GTX460(DDR5) for my ntel(R)core(TM)i3,530@2.93GHZ|||yes you can if your power supply can handle it.GTX 460 requires good quality 500 watts of power supply with TWO pci-e connectors.since you have i3 530 then your motherboard must have PCI-Ex16 slot which is required for GTX 460.|||Yes, you can without any problem. as I think. best of luck.|||Yes, as long as you have a free pcie x16 slot inside it will work.|||idk can you. you didnt really say what type of motherboard u have. so idk if u can or cant

Can a G31tm-P21 motherboard handle a GTX460 graphics card and what is the maximum it can go?

It will support it and the highest it can go would be a gtx 580. As long as a motherboard has a pcie x16 it will work with any graphics card. You need to make sure you have a power supply that can handle it though i would suggest at the least a 500 watt power supply for the gtx 460.|||It could do it but will run very heavy. here's a link that shows you the comments of people who bought it.

What are the size deminsions of a palit gtx460 1gb sonic?

My computer case is not very big and need to know if the GPU mensioned above will fit. (case size 9.5")|||the GTX 460 will only fit in a mid tower case or larger. I know that it will be a very tight fit in an mATX case. If your case is only 9.5inches long than it will not fit, the card is about 9 inches long. You also have to take into consideration your mother board most mATX boards have there SATA inputs right behind the PCIe-e slot which will not allow you to install a large Graphics card.

Will the lifetime series pro 550w psu work with a gtx460?

I know it as enough watts but I need to know if it has enough amps and if it comes with the required connectors.|||The GTX460 requires around 24A on the +12V rail (this value can differ depending on if it is overclocked or not). Upon using Google, the PSU comes with a single rail that can output 30A. So, yes, it will work.

I hope this helps!|||The Ultra power supply meets the GTX 460 requirements of 24A @ 12V and 2x 6-pin PCIe power connectors, so it should work.

Ultra isn't widely recognized as being a top tier brand name, but it isn't considered junk, either. While I would prefer a power supply from Antec, Corsair, OCZ, Seasonic or Thermaltake, I don't see anything really wrong with this one. http://wize.com/system-power-supplies/p1…

Which is better msi gtx460 cyclone 768mb or sapphire 5830 xtreme?

on paper it seems that msi gtx460 lose to 5830 but I've seen some reviews and they all have mixed benchmark. I am not sure which to buy now..

My place no longer has 5850 and gtx 460 1gb is out of my budget. pls advice|||They're about the same. Unless you're doing some really hardcore gaming get whatever you can afford.

Is it worth buying the GTX460 1GB version for £30 more than the 768MB version?

Basically im buying a new graphics card and im pretty set on the GTX460 although i dont know whether to buy the 1GB version or the 768MB version..is the difference really worth the £30?? Also im open to any other recommendation of graphics card in the region of £100 - £150 if anyone knows where i can get anything better than a GTX460!|||Unless your running highish resolutions the 768MB will be fine.

How much of a difference between GeForce GTX460 768MB and 1024MB?

I want to buy a new graphics card, and I heard that the GTX460 has a great performance for the price. But there are 2 models, a 768MB one and a 1024MB one. Is it worth it to spend more for the 1024MB one? How much of a difference does the extra memory make?|||The difference is not just the amount of memory. The 1GB version cards have a 256-bit memory interface, and the 768MB version cards have a 192-bit memory interface.

The performance advantage of the 1GB version card is in the area of 6%-7% overall.

http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/2010-…

If I were trying to build a gaming system on a budget, I would save money using the 768MB version, spend a tad more on the CPU, and then pocket the difference.

This is a straight-up reference design, for only $150, Sparkle SXX460768D5UNM (GeForce GTX 460 768MB),

Is it worth me buying a secondary gts450 for Physx?

I currently have an asus gtx460 running quite nicely but am wondering if I might gain anything by buying a secondary asus gts450 for physx? I've heard some quite good things from doing this but they usually use the more higher end cards and sli them on top of all that.

I'm using an i5 2500 with Windows 7.

Anyone got any advice?|||ideally you need two cards the same to SLI them, so it is not going to work.

The GTX460 already has an inbuilt Physics engine that is working with your games that support it but you can SLI 2x 460´s and get a better performance from many games as it will split the game play video and physics between the cards.|||I don't think you need to. gtx460 already have Physx on it (I'm currently using gtx460, look amazing on Battlefield Bad company 2) and it's depend on game engine as well.

If you just want to make things look better, invest another gtx 460. Best SLI for the price so far!!|||It's not worth it and I think the 460gtx already has physx. Try getting a 240gts or a 9600gt because those are good for decent physx, but my advise is that it's not worth getting another card when your card already supports it.|||You can't use two different cards anyway - not with Nvidia's SLI

Only 'Crossfire' from AMD/ATI allows different cards, for SLI, they must match|||I agree with shining soul. Since you have nvidia card, physx is already on. It would make sense if you had an ATI/AMD Card, since they don't have physx on.

Can i join gtx460 with an intel graphics accelerator?

are you asking if you can run them both at the same time together? No... but you can run a GTX 460 as long as you have the right power supply|||Definitely not... installing a GTX 460 will override the Intel graphics.|||Uhh... no. For what purpose would you want that anyway?

GTX460 768mb SLI or GTX480 1.5GB?

I have a GTX460 768mb and am looking at either buying a GTX 480 (currently on offer for £200) or buy a second GTX460 for £125. I could trade the GTX460 in for £74 and get games I was going to buy anyway so price is negligibly equal.

Before quoting synthetic benchmarks I will say my single GTX 460 runs my games at above 60fps at max (except AF) at 1920x1080 on my monitor (its max). The problem is the 768mb and Asiotrophic Filtering, going above 2 kills my fps in several games and I have never used SLI before.

Will 2 GTX460 in SLI help with this (having 2 sets of 768mb GDDR5 RAM) or not? Should I get the GTX 480 it such a case? the GPU speeds are unimportant to me at this point.|||SLIing wont perform as well as the single 480, but if you already have the 460, id say youd get more bang for the buck if you SLI.|||Skip both and get the GTX570

It runs much cooler then the GTX480 and it's clocked higher and it's cost less

Hate when dumbasses come on here answering questions and not know what they're talking about

SLI scales nearly 100% and SLI TX 460 1GB (even the 768mb in SLI out performs the GTX 480) performs much better then 1 GTX 480

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gefo…

http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforce-gt…|||You have to know first whether your motherboard supports SLI you also have to have a compatible SLI power supply and you have to have an SLI bridge to connect the two, if you have all of that I would just buy another GTX 460

IF YOU DONT MEET THESE REQUIREMENTS GET A 480|||The single GTX480 is much, much more superior to the 460's in SLI.

The scaling for SLI isn't very good, so your performance will only increase a little bit (probably negligible.)

You're going to be better off with the GTX480

Can I run a 9800gt and a gtx460 in SLI mode ?

I have an AM3 motherboard with two PCI-E x16 slots, which has an ATI HD 4290 video card onboard(supports crossfire, but I don't have another ATI gpu).|||No you cannot. In order for SLI to work the core, the memory interface, the number of shaders, and the type of video RAM has to be the same. Basically you need two of the same card. Also not all boards support both SLI *and* Crossfire.

I'll add that over the years, I've had SLI'd 7600GTs' , SLI'd 7900GTs', and SLI'd 8800GT's. And currently have SLI'd GTX 470's I've never had any issues with SLI. It's always worked as advertised for me.|||AMD supports Crossfire and CrossfireX but not SLI. If your board has on board graphics and CrossfireX if you put in an ATI card you can "enhance" you "card" graphics with the on board graphics as that's what CrossfireX does. The Nvidia cards can SLI IF they are the same ( 2, 9800's OR 2, 460s only if your board supports SLI) You can mix ATI card in the same series in Crossfire. In essence, you cant use SLI in a Crossfire board (2 Nvidia cards) you can't mix the series (9800 +460) You can use ONE Nvidia card but it wont get the benefit of CrossfireX|||You cant combine two different video cardss with SLI.. iwouldn't recommendd it anyway.. Sli has difficulty when running some games and its really more of a pain in the *** then a benifit|||No SLI needs same graphic cards.

3D gaming and movies with gtx460?

Is gtx460 2GB good for watching 3D movies and games or i need a more powerful card?(23inch lg monitor 1920x1080|||Depends on the game. You need to have a 120hz monitor for it work. And you would need to have steady 120fps, since when you factor in the 3D that effectively halves your frame rate and that 120 fps becomes 60 fps. If your effective frame rate drops below 50 fps, the 3D effects start becoming noticeably distorted. For movies you should be fine, but for modern games, you're asking alot of a single mid-range video card.|||I own this card and there is almost nothing I can't do very well with it. Other than playing games at the highest resolution and quality settings possible, (higher than 1920x1080), you can do it all with that card. Especially if you get the 2gb version. Mine is only a 768MB 460GTX, btw.

My mobo is asus p5kpl on ddr2 does suport gtx460 gpu ?

i want to buy a gtx460 gpu for this mother board,it is compatible? im confused...|||It has the proper slot.

Is there a lot of performance difference between gtx460 and gts 450? plz help?

im restricted to these options due to budget limitation i can only afford gts450 am i missing much if i dont upgrade to gtx460?

plz help

cheers!!|||Assuming you want to use that for gaming, then yes, there's a big difference between the two. The GTS 450 is an entry-level card where the GTX 460 is the mainstream card. You can compare the performance of specific make/models the two at Tom's Hardware. I picked a couple 460s and 450s from the list and looked. It appears that the 450 typically runs games at frame rates about 1/2 to 3/5 the speed of the 460.

The price difference between these two appears to be warranted. You get about 60-100% increase in speed for about 60% more. This is based on what I see as Newegg prices between the two: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLis…

Several of the GTX 460s there have good rebates because the they are being phased out to be replaced with the GTX 560. You might be able to swing one of those after rebate for something much closer to the price of GTS 450.

What graphics card should i get that is like a EVGA 1GB GTX460?

iv been tryin to find a good graphics card , i wanted a EVGA 1GB GTX460 but there seems to be no where with stock , what graphics card is better at around the same price? its $214.00 ( im in brisbane au btw) (:|||Why not get the Gigabyte model which are just as good and has better cooling (the card can get quite hot). It cost is pretty much the same as the EVGA model, if not cheaper (most likely it is though). I'm surprised by how cheap it is in Brisbane compared to over here in Melbourne where the GTX 460 cost over $230!

Alternatively, you could also try getting the AMD Radeon HD 6850 which has nearly the same price as well. Check the reviews and see how good they are compared to the GTX 460.|||You should get Asus in stead of EVGA in my opinion, if you wanna go GTX 460

http://www.techbuy.com.au/p/150048/VIDEO…

or try the ATI equivalent, a nice 6850 or 6870

this is the 6850.

pros: lower power needs, about as fast a GTX460

What graphics card is better than 2x gtx460?

I have 2 gtx460 running in sli. My buddy wants to build a PC and I was wondering if I got something like the gtx560 ti oc, would that be faster or what would be faster without running sli or crossfire?|||one of the higher factory clocked gtx 580's such as msi's 3gb lightning extreme might do the trick, or if you don't mind dual gpu cards, then possibly a gtx 590 or 6990.|||A 560Ti isn't much better than a 460, so 2x460s would be faster. However, something like a 570 would be a better option, as a single GPU is easier to setup, and performs more reliably. Plus, you can Crossfire later if you need to.|||My understanding from some of research (I'm building a comp myself) is that the nvidia GeForce 560 is pretty darn good. Buy it!|||Use NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GX2- dual GPU-based graphic card.

How would a GT430 do as a PhysX card with two GTX460's in SLi?

As the title says guys, how will it handle? Will it be a worthing investment for my system? As the title says I have 2 GTX460's, and would like to have a dedicated PhysX card.|||see dude as u have 2 gtx 460 card there's no need for a physx card

ur is already overkill can even beat gtx 580

i think if u really want it just buy a second hand 8800gt

its a very good physx unit

Nvidia geforce 9600GT or nvidia geforce 9800GT or GeForce GTX460?

which one is better and how?|||Ok, The GTX 460 is definitely way more expensive than both... but its like Way way better...

1st of all... Its a later generation.. Clock speeds are significantly higher and everything is with newer technology

Secondly... Its more future proof.. Better memory type (DDR5) and has DirectX11.

Everything overall is just way better, GTX 460 is definitely the best pick... Just make sure you have the money. Also if GTX is above your budget, and the other two are too outdated or something, get a ATI card.. for $20 dollars less than the 460 you can get the Radeon 5770.. It's really the best card for the budget ($119)

For $30 less then the 460 you can get the 5750($109) then there's the 5670 starting at about $75 for the DDR5 version.

The Nvidia cards go in this order

GTX 460<GeForce 9800GT< Geforce 9600GT

Good luck and Happy Gaming.|||GTX 460 costs Rs. 11,500. Its a powerful card. But if you want to save money then wait till 5th April. Radeon 6790 is releasing on 5th. It costs Rs. 8000 and a cheap and best card. More power, less rate.|||I agree completely with JDoggK, at $10 the Radeon HD 5770 is definitely the best bang for the buck. Don't get son hung up on only wanting to by Nvidia.|||GTX460 -- it is several hardware generations newer than the 9000-series GeForce line.|||460 GTX far better than both. More advanced processor cores & DDR5 memory|||off course GTX460

Will a GTX460 fit in my motherboard?

I have a P5LP-LE (Lithium 2) motherboard and it seems the battery standing up will interfere with the EVGA nvidia gtx 460?|||I have two of those card in my custom built, and well that batter standing up will not be an issue and it is below the PCI slot, the card will really close to it. What you will have to make sure of is that you have enough power to run that card. The OEM compaq PSU probably does not have enough wattage to run that card.|||It looks like it should be ok. I looked at some of the pictures and I don't see a problem.

ASUS GeForce GTX460 issue, help?

I just got my GeForce GTX460, installed it (although only 1 6pin plug was used because i don't have any others), but as soon as my PC boots I get a BIOS error (1 long, 2 short, GFX not detected in my case). Anyone have any tips how to help me out in this? Should I get some adapters for the second 6pin plug? Does the ASUS GTX460 need both plugs to work at all?

If anyone wants to know, my PC specs are at the moment:

500W Power supply unit

Intel i5-650@ 3.20 GHz

ATi Radeon HD5450 (changing to ASUS GTX460, both gfx cards with 1024 MB)

4GB RAM DDR3|||it needs to be compatible with the motherboard, so you can probably get a converter for a port that isn't compatible to make it compatible. It can ruin a mobo if you plug in the video card in the wrong place.

Gtx460 graphics card help?

250W Power Supply

I want to get a GTX460 but 250W wont run it so can you guys recommend me a good one to replace my 250W|||Any power supply over 450W will do. The GTX460 requires a minimum of 350W but Ive seen it fail with such low power supply. Therefore go 450W or higher. If you can afford it go fot a 650W pro series of any good brand (corsair e.g). But if you dont have the cash a cheap one will do.

Ive been running my GTX460 with a DiabloTek PHD450 $30.00 at CompUSA for the last 6 months, running games like Splinter cell conviction @ 1920x1080p no problemo!

and it came out to 492w.|||Hi mike, a gtx460 uses 270w on load http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphic… and then allow for the rest.

A quality 500w psu will be more than fine

as long as you go for a quality psu, it will have at leat 40 amps on the +12v rail (40 x 12v = 480w) and 80% effecient you will be fine.

something like a corsair, seasonic, antec etc..

also a hd5850 is cheaper, slightly faster, uses less heat and power and is quieter

no brainer really http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphic…|||As AJ said, go for a minimum 750W power supply, this way you're ready if you ever want to use Crossfire/SLI, or upgrade your system further.|||Not sure the exact wattage that the 460 requires, but I have an 750w antec earthwatts PSU, and it works great for my 280 (similar power req).

Is my processor good enough for a Gtx460 graphics card?

I have a intel pentium g620 dual core 2.6 ghz processor

im looking to upgrade to a Gtx 460 or a gtx 560

Will my processor handle it .

I just bought this computer brand new yesterday|||Your pentium processor is newer and it can stand up to many of the other processors on the market in a core vs. core race. I really wouldn't worry about it. It's good enough for the GTX 460 and it's good enough for gaming.

The 2.6ghz g620 will beat a Phenom II X2 clocked at 3ghz.

The GTX 560 is a better value even if the price is higher. I would buy it at newegg.com. Best Buy's in store prices are too high.|||its pretty good, buy it and you'll see the results : ) I use the same graphics card you have, but in SLi|||It possibly could. Go for it|||yes

Integrated graphics + GTX460. Can I switch to IG when not gaming to save energy?

I've read somewhere that newer main boards / graphics cards have the ability to turn off graphics cards and use only integrated gpu when not gaming. Considering that the GTX460 sucks ~150Watts idle, there could be significant savings from this technology, especially if you run your computer all night.

Is this true or did I just imagine it? :)|||You can, but you would have to do it in BIOS. It's pretty much pointless as a cost savings measure.

I'll assume your kilowatt an hour usage is 8 cents. Don't know what your integrated GPU uses in watts, but I'll say around 50, so if you do the math (watt*hrs used)/1000 watts)*kilowatt hr electricity rates. If you left it on for 365 days 150 watts would cost about $115 and at 50 watts about $35, so it's pretty pointless. Your not going to use it constantly and switching back and forth is a huge hassle.|||yes you can disable it and switch but, it won't be much of a difference

Can i use Nvdia gtx460(DDR5) for intel(R)core(TM)i3 530@2.90GHZ. My_mother board is INTEL DH55Pj?

my mother board is intel DH55PJ|||Yes, you can. Your motherboard has a PCIeX-16 slot. So, it can easily run any gfx card provided you have a good branded 500W PSU. Look for Corsair CX-500v2 available for Rs.3000 or FSP SAGA-II 500W for Rs.2200. These are good VFM PSUs you should atleast consider to power GTX-460. Dont run the card if you have a generic/local 500W PSU, else you will end up burning the card along with some other components too.

And get the card from good brands like Asus and MSi. Avoid XFX, their cards these days have very poor build quality.|||yeah easily, but its pointless to use that expensive graphics card with that old cpu and motherboard. Anything higher than a radeon HD 6670 will be a wastage on that system!

Will this PSU work with a GTX460?

Will this OCZ600SXS be enough to power a GTX460? I've read it needs a minimum +12V@24A rail. The PSU has 4 rails at +12V@18A. Will two rails join together and form a +12V@36A rail because the card takes two plugs?

http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php?…|||There is no comparison, the GTX 460 smokes the old card. But if you're considering an upgrade, make sure that your motherboard has a PCI-Express slot. If your have the AGP version of the 9500, the slots are completely incompatible and you would be buying a part which cannot work with your system. The 9500 was sold in both AGP and PCI-Express versions. The GTX is sold only for the PCI-E slot, as AGP is an outmoded technology. The AGP slot is typically colored either brown or dark green on the motherboard, whereas PCI-E slots are white or off-white. That's the easiest way to tell which slot your have, though you'd have to remove the card to see the slot itself.

Don't be fooled by the 768MB GDDR5 RAM of the new card versus more memory on the older one. Memory size does not affect speed in video cards -- instead, the video RAM serves only as a frame buffer for the picture to be written to the monitor. Having more memory means that you can play games at higher resolutions, but not at greater frame rates, and 768MB is more than enough unless you are running a giant monitor or trying to run multiple monitors simultaneously.|||The GTX460 is much much better than the GeForce 9500. The 9500 is a mid-rage card, not capable of much. The GTX460 is a much more powerful card, even if it has less memory.|||i think it will work better then 9500

What graphics card should i buy? Gtx580 or gtx460 2Win?

I was gonna get a gtx 580 for my new rig, but yesterday, EVGA announced their monster 460 dual GPU card, "460 2WIN" This card gives comparatively better frame rates than the 580 and is extremely cheap (it would be 2X 460's price - 10%) about 45 - 50 USD less.

Whats the cost of gtx460? Which processor is the best for it? Does dual core work with it?

Rs.30930

I need recommendations for a motherboard and processor that would help maximize performance on a GTX460?

For a single video card, pretty much any quad core processor and compatible motherboard would be a good match. If you can afford it, I'm recommending the i7-950 3.06 GHz cpu as having the best price/performance ratio among top video cards. That would of course require a Socket 1366 motherboard.

On the less expensive side, a Phenom II x4 955 and Socket AM3 motherboard do a very nice job for gaming with that card.|||That is a bit of a hard question because it is reverse building. The Nvidia graphics card can only run as well as it can, the motherboard has no effect on it's performance. As long as it is a pci-express 1 or 2 slot it will just do what it does. The motherboard and cpu are another matter. Obviously the faster bus speed of the cpu and memory, the better the computer will perform as a whole, but nothing will make the Graphics card run any faster than it already can. It is a self contained unit.|||Nvidia's are generally best run with an Intel Processor. While Radeon HD is better for AMD.

I would suggest Intel Core i7 for your processor and motherboard go for a nice Gigabyte one.

GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD3R isn't that bad. Make sure you have the right socket for the processor. Different i7's use different sockets.

How to fix GTX460 stuttering when loading objects/textures/etc?

Some heavier games (Crysis, GTA IV, Crysis 2) seem to play fine on my GTX460, however it stutters when it loads new objects. For example, exiting from the GTA IV safehouse to the street gives me a micro stutter, then it goes a bit slow until it loads objects (1 second). While this may seem innocent, it is annoying. NOTE that it isn't the same problem where people have micro stuttering at high FPS.

Is this due to my low PSU? The GTX460 asks for a minimum of 450W with 25A on the +12V, while i only have around 10~15A (not sure) on the +12V and 420W. It's a white line PSU.

My current specs are the following:

E8600 (stock, OC doesn't solve the issue, by the way.)

eVGA GTX 460 1GB EE

ASUS P5G41C-M LX

Seagate 500GB hard drive (ST3500830AS ATA)

And the white-line PSU, 420W and 10~15A on the +12V.

the RAM is 2x4GB Gskill at 1333Mhz, I don't remember the model.

When i had an old 8600GT this issue never happened, despite the way lower framerates on modern games.|||That PSU probally is some of your problem, but your motherboard is also only an x8 lane PCIEx16 slot, which is also bottlenecking your GPU somewhat.

The thing with needing 24Amps on the +12Volt rail, is the fact that, that is the full load recommendation. When the card is under full load it can use upto 24Amps. See the issue? There are some good 30Amp PSU's out there, that won't break the bank...

Why is the gtx260 as expensive as the gtx460? And which of the two performs best?

I always assumed the gtx460 was better, which it probably is, but why is it cheaper? The gtx280 (which I also think delivers less performance than the 460) is still massively expensive.

Why are GPU prices so random? Shouldn't they be more or less scaled to reflect the performance of the card?

I originally planned on upgrading my 8800GTS 640mb to the gtx260, but when I saw that the gtx460 cost less, I started to wonder.|||They're random because of compatibility differences and release time. New, boxed, computer components don't tend to decrease much in price even when a much better version is released.

The GTX460 is definitely faster than the GTX260.|||Well look at it this way the the 260 was all the rage (and as an entry level hi end card) it still is! just like when you bought your 8800GTS it was the hottest thing out there. the 460 is newer and yes its faster than the 260 it has DDR5 ram and more of it, higher bandwidth, cooler running...etc but why drop a price if the 260 still sells? You can still buy your 8800 card brand new!|||The GTX 460 is one of Nvidia's new series of graphics processors, much faster and more powerful than the GTX260. Prices should have come down on the GTX260,but it just makes the GTX460 even better to buy,and it's currently better for price/performance ratio than ATI's cards.|||GTX460 has pixel shader 5.0 and directx11

How good is the gtx460 card for my gaming computer?

The GTX 460 is a solid midrange card, probably the best value in the $150-$200 range. It's faster than the Radeon HD 5770 and GeForce GTX 550Ti.

However, if you can spend $60 more, the GeForce GTX 560Ti is even better.

http://www.techspot.com/review/359-nvidi…|||To be honest, it sounds pretty bad. You might want to get above 500 at least. Also, you might want to check out other brands such as AMD or ATI. That might be better at cheaper prices. Also, it matters on which kind of games you'd like to run. If it's games like Crysis you defiantly might want to upgrade it to a higher GTX number or a different brand (AMD at least a AMD Radeon HD 6850 1GB GDDR5 16X PCIe Video Card).

Hd5770 vs gtx460 ???

hd5770 vs gtx460 ????

Which one is better?

I looked on a benchmarks site and it said they were about the same on the graph.

But I'm just confused because on ebay the hd5770 is so much cheaper (about $150)

and on ebay and everywhere else the gtx460 is so much more expensive (about $210)

I was going to get the gts450, (because the $460 is too much for me right now).

So yeah... thanks.|||460 GTX easy. You can get it cheaper on Newegg. You can even grab a

768 MB version of it for $110-140

These are actual benchmark comparisons between the 2 cards, not some single graph that is probably inaccurate

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/1…

EDIT: Oh ok didn't know, but anyways, the 460 wins|||GTX 460 is better than HD5770..you have to look in to its specs.HD 5770 is 128Bit bus width with 76.8gb per second memory band width while GTX 460 are of two types one with 192bit with 86.4gbps while other one with 256bit with 115.6gbps.In this case even GTX460 192bit model can beat HD5770..GTX460 needs additional powersupply while HD5770 dont need..So buy GTX 460 for better gaming..

have a nice day..

Would a GTX460 SE 1 GB work on my pc?

i have a about $220 to spend on a new psu and graphics card. i found my self a pretty good Psu that's around $55 CORSAIR Builder Series and then i started searching for a cheap gtx460.. the best thing i found was a GTX460 SE 1 GB. the thing i want to know is will the gtx460 work on my computer?

be sure to measure your case. the 460 is a double wide card, so it looks like it will hit the ram clips, plus you need a empty slot below the pci-e x16 (since its a dual card) which it doesnt look like you have. i dont think it will fit the case|||The GPU will work if you have a good PSU :)

Try getting a psu with 500+ watts. You will not have a problem once you get a psu that powers the gpu effectively

I have a intel DG31PR with 1 x16 pci-e port, will nvidia gtx460 card work on my motherboard?

i dont actually know whether the pci-e port on my motherboard is 2.0 or not, if its not whether that gpu is backwards compatible or not|||it will work fine , PCI Express slots and graphic cards are backward compatible

just see whether u have enough power supply or not|||yeah it will work very well i have DG41RQ which has 1 pci-e 1.1 slot and my hd 5750 running very well on it. so ur motherboard won't be an issue.

before buy any graphic card u must check ur power supply it will enough to run that card.|||That mobo has a PCIe 1.0 slot. You can use a 2.0 card as they are backwards compatible. You will take a slight hit in performance (i.e. bottlenecked bandwidth). It will be good - go for it!|||Should be fine. I'm running a gtx 560 ti in a version 1.1 pci-e slot. The performance hit is so slight it's barely worth mentioning, in the ball park of 5%.|||It should work.

However, make sure that your power supply can handle it. You want a good 450-500W at least with at least two PCI-E power connectors and 24 amps on the 12V rails.

http://techreport.com/articles.x/19242/1…

The GTX 460 set up hardly hits 300W on wall socket.

Even a good/true-rated 400W power supply can power a basic set up but a bigger 550 to 650W unit with 4 PCIe power connectors would give you plenty of elbow room for upgrades like an awesome dual GTX 460 later.|||The GTX 460 requires at least a QUALITY 450w power supply. A power supply from a reputable brand. Like Corsair, SeaSonic, Antec, Silverstone, XFX, Thermaltake, Cooler Master, or OCZ. But for headroom purposes on your i7 rig, you should be going with a 650w psu from either of those brands.

Will this CPU cause major bottlenecks with my new GTX460?

Hello

I was planning on getting a Nvidia GTX 460 but I'm concerned that it will be forced to bottleneck due to my AMD Phenom 9550 X4. The CPU runs at 2.2 Ghz as is a quad core. I will not be overclocking it at all. BTW, I'm also going to use a 600/700 watt PSU.

Best answer will get points.

Thank you.|||As long as your PSU can support both chips it will be fine... the CPU does very little in terms of Graphics.

If you are playing games (I assume you are with a GTX460) then the biggest impact the CPU will have is the scripting (telling the AI what to do)

What power supply should i get for a Gtx460?

Do you guys know whats the best and cheapest power supply to get if i'm going to use a gtx460?

My computer specs

HP Pavilion p6310y

Oh yeah one other thing, i only have enough money to get a $50 Power supply.|||Corsair is a good brand name. Their Builder series is not as good as the Enthusiast series, but it's about the best you'll do with your budget. You need two 6-pin PCI-E power connectors for the GTX460.|||How about $45 after $20 MIR? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

Inexpensive power supplies can't deliver their rated wattage for more than a few seconds. Good power supplies (the kind that gamers use) can deliver 100% of their rating continuously. The OCZ Fata1ity 550W has enough power and the correct power cables to run your video card. I'd prefer a better Seasonic or Corsair branded power supply, but the OCZ seems to deliver the goods at the best price. It's what I'm using in my secondary desktop after I discovered the original 500W power supply couldn't keep the 12V rails at anywhere near 12V.

Would nvidia drivers work fine on a zotac GTX460 without damaging the card?

Ok i seem to be having some driver problems on my GTX460,i noticed there was some flickering lines whenever i played games e.g Witcher 2 and Batman Arkum Asylum. I think new drivers would solve these issues as i think it could not be dust build up coz i dust my PC often. I downloaded xp drivers from Nvidia, are they compatible with zotac graphic cards? All your suggestions and answers are highly appreciated.|||YES. It is still a Nvidia GPU in it, the ZOTAC is just the PCM Maker, but the GPU is Nvidia.

So yes it is fine :)|||Zotac,Asus,Pny,Xfx,Msi,Bfg, are vendors for nvidia corp.,nvidia sells the chips to them, the vendors design the graphic card, agree they all have nvidia chips inside of them , the latest driver is ver. 275.33

read up on the issues that are fixed, i think your main problem is to go to the nvidia control panel and make some adjustments and yes they are compatible with zotac graphic cards with the nvidia logo on them|||only use nvidia driver

I am going to be playing combat arms, crysis, and etc. I dont care about the cost, but I need top edge of these 3, or if there is any better as od December 7,2010|||5970 is easily the fastest card out of those 3. However, much better drivers and newer game support.|||NVIDIA by far has the best chipsets. Their reputation proves this. I've only had one issue with any NVIDIA card and that would be reflective glare, although the newest sli setups probably don't have this. I'm planning to upgrade my graphics card to a GTX460, but I don't sure that whether my computer specs will bottleneck it or not. Does GTX460 is an overkill for my pc?|||I'm using AMD Athlon 2, 2.7 Ghz CPU and Sapphire 6970, 4 Gb of Kingston Hyper X DDr2 memory, Corsair TX850 W PSU and using BenQ XL2410T Gaming monitor ( 2ms, 120 hz). You have plenty of computer to run a 460, maybe you will need more of a power supply, not sure what a 460 needs for PSU. You will need PCIExpress X 16 slot and room.|||According to:

http://www.realhardtechx.com/index_archi…

You should have a minimum 500W power supply. You will have to check the 12V rail current on your current PSU to see if it meets the requirements of that video card. You will need two 6 pin PCI-E video power connectors...|||450W is the minimum power supply which a gtx460 consumes u should get atleast a 460W or 500W power supply of a good brand like coolermaster, Antec, Corsair, OCZ, seasonic , tagan and u'll be fine it doesn't overkill ur pc and personally i would recommend u a ATI HD6850 instead of getting a GTX460 as it consumes less power when idle and requires 500W of minimum power supply and is more powerful than GTX460 at lesser price......|||It will bottleneck a tri-core slightly. But overall it's not a bad choice for your system. You might want to consider a non-generic 550W or better PSU. The PSU's that come with most no-name cases are of suspect quality, and usually don't produce their advertised wattage.

GTX260 sli vs GTX460?

I can get a GTX260 for $100 or buy 2 for sli for $200.

A single gtx460 would cost me $200.

Which option would be the best in efficiency/speed?

Flight Simulator X will be the main use and possibly crysis 2.|||newer gamer laptops tend to come with a SINGLE GTX460 whereas only a year ago (GTX200 series) SLI was the rule;

seems that meanwhile the performance gain of 2 video cards is outweighed by the heat development (?)

personally i use two 8800m GTX (in SLI) for FSX @ WUXGA (1920x1200) and reach 30 to 40 fps.

thus even a single GTX260, leave alone a 460 should easily outpace that (which is more then enough, as far as FSX is concerned)

my experience is that SLI comes with a lot of if & then and not every game handles it equally well.

if you can spare yourself the potential trouble & get comparable performance with a single card, i'd go w/ the single card.|||due to SLI scaling issues and the more modern GPU I would say that the GTX 460 would be your better bet.

GTX460 ASUS vs EVGA. Which is better?

which graphics card is better. ASUS gtx460 or EVGA gtx460 (1gb). consider overclocked versions too.|||They are basically the same, just a different brand. The more costly ones sometimes have higher clock speeds.

Which card is better? Gtx460 OC or hd5850?

Was just wondering which video card would give me better performance..

The gtx460 oc edition or the Hd5850 regular edition..

Dont answer about price because i only care about the overall performance..thanks :-)|||hi caloy

the radeon HD5850 is the better of the two...and this is mainly down to the 256bit memory interface compared to only a 192bit interface in the GTX460...... however check out these specs and we will then compare performance

GTX460 :

Manufacturer: nVidia

Series: GeForce GTX 400

GPU: GF104

Release Date: 2010-07-12

Interface: PCI-E 2.0 x16

Core Clock: 675 MHz

Memory Clock: 1800 MHz (3600 DDR)

Memory Bandwidth: 115.2 GB/sec

Shader Operations: 226800 MOperations/sec

Pixel Fill Rate: 21600 MPixels/sec

Texture Fill Rate: 37800 MTexels/sec

Vertex Operations: 56700 MVertices/sec

HD5850 :

Manufacturer: ATi

Series: Radeon HD 5k

GPU: RV870

Release Date: 2009-09-23

Interface: PCI-E 2.0 x16

Core Clock: 725 MHz

Memory Clock: 2000 MHz (4000 DDR)

Memory Bandwidth: 128 GB/sec

Shader Operations: 1044000 MOperations/sec

Pixel Fill Rate: 23200 MPixels/sec

Texture Fill Rate: 52200 MTexels/sec

Vertex Operations: 0 MVertices/sec

----------------------------------------…

as you can see theres some significant differences between these two cards... and these include the radeon HD5850,s core clock of 725mhz compared to just 675mhz core clock in the GTX460

also the 4000mhz effective memory clock in the HD5850 is better than the 3600mhz effective clock speed in the GTX460.... and this is reflected in the 128gb/sec memory bandwidth in the HD5850..with just a 115gb/sec memory bandwidth in the GTX460

another suprising spec is the power draw.... the HD5850 uses just 158w max power draw were the GTX460 draws 160w....... and allthough this is just a miniscule 2w it goes to show that the radeon HD5850 can acheive maximum performance while not needing a electricity sub station to power it !

you may also want to consider the new "nvidia GTX550ti" ( http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/product-g… ) .... this is a awesome card and around the same performance as the GTX460 ...... and it only draws 116w from the psu..... and its specs are impressive aswell......

however the HD5850 is your best overall choice......

i hope this helps caloy...however any questions let me know

good luck mate !|||both will rip through crysis no problem! i would imagine the hd 5850 is slightly faster but probably not enough to notice a difference? i have the geforce gts 450 at the moment and it has played everything i have thrown at it including crysis, crysis warhead, and the force unleased 2 without any problems. of course i also have the new core i5 2500 quad core cpu and 8 gb of ddr 3 ram. but yeah you should be happy with either of those cards. i usually buy HIS cards for ati and evga cards for nvidea cuz the quality of these brands are great! good luck! :o)|||they are about the same but i would go for the hd5850.

Does ASUS Sabertooth X58 allow for dual GTX460?

Just wondering is it possible to have two GTX460s on an ASUS Sabertooth X58 Motherboard, just doing some research before buying?|||Yes it takes SLI the "closeness" of the slot may not really be a problem...the height if the PCI slot between the two PCIe slots may be! Yes two double-wide 460's may be a bit of a squeeze but they will fit. The fan in video card of the first slot may not get enough air causing it to get hotter than normal. you could put a fan on the side door panel blowing directly down on the cards for better cooling.|||yes

Edit: Complaints about the slots being too close together i would look for different board for sli

What's Better, 2 x GTX460 or 1 GTX560ti?

How well do video cards work together? i have a gtx460 and i wonder if i get another one, would two of them working together be almost as fast as the gtx580 or close?|||Two GTX 460 with the cores clocked at stock speeds get you performance that falls between a GTX 570 and 580. You'd have to overclock the cards if you want GTX 580 performance. Half of these GTX 460 cards are pre-overclocked anyway.

How do I fix no video out put on a desk top first build computer?

I have an atx ASUS p8p67 ws revolution motherboard and a ASUS gtx460 top 1GB video card. I am not getting any video out put. What can I do to find the problem?|||Well I would suggest you to take apart your pc out of your case and then run it" "benchtest" Most likely is that the risers are installed improperly or you used the wrong screws for the motheboard creating a short making it unable to boot. Trust me on my first build it took me the whole day to figure that out and it pissed me off quite a bit. Heres a guide on benchtesting. its very simple just follow the guide. http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f…

Is the GTX460 good for gaming?

Can it play Crysis 2 etc. and other graphically demanding games|||It depends on which model GTX 460 you have (1GB, 768MB, or SE?), your resolution, and settings. Crysis 2 is not as demanding as it's predecessors.

For a point of reference, the GTX 460 768MB and SE are roughly equivalent tot he 5770. With that, you can use the following benchmark:

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/crys…

What's the size difference between a GeForce 7900 GT and a GTX460?

Friend of mine just asked me to check online for a graphics card, as he just got himself an old box for next to nothing. Currently the box has a GeForce 7900 on it, and the card that I found which falls within his budget is the GTX460. (if you guys know of better cards in this price range it would be great if you share). The thing is, I don't know what the box looks like, and how much space it has...but based on the fact that a GeForce 7900 fits into it...would a GTX460 fit into it?|||IIRC the 7900 is a single slot card and the GTX 460 is a dual slot card (in terms of height), you'll have to make sure there's no sound card/controller card/ NIC/ etc. currently residing directly under the where the 7900 currently is.|||Well a gtx460 is small it should fit in any case easily in an normal mid-atx tower. same price cards, 6850, and that would be better. that should also fit in any mid atx size case. 6850 could run on a 400-450W psu, gtx460 uses more power, will probably need 500W.

What is the price of gtx460? Which is a good processor to work with it? Does it work with dual core?

yes, it works with a dual core. price is around $185 less rebate. hopefully you have a 3.0ghz+ dual core and a 500w+ power supply with 2 x 6 pin pci-e connectors.

That being said, and trying to be impartial to give you the best answer, The 5870 is actually a faster card. You probably wouldn't even notice the difference between the two side by side, but the Radeon is a little quicker and if they are the same price? Buy the Radeon 5870.

Can you SLi a GTX260 with a GTX460?

I am planning to upg my pc and i saw that a GTX460 costs less than a GTX260, so i wonder if u can SLi the 2?

if so what's the performace increase?|||For SLI to work smoothly, similar card need to be installed on the motherboard. In your case, you would need to install two GTX 460's. The manufacturer may be different like XFX GTX 460 + Sapphire GTX 460 but the chip type (GTX 460) has to be same.

If you install a GTX 260 with a GTX 460 it may work but the GTX 460 will be toned down to GTX 260's speed. Secondly, GTX 460 is DX11 and GTX 260 is DX10. You might see conflicts out there making the system unstable.

I would go with a single GTX 460 is its a very good card. If I had the money to buy two GTX 460 I would still be better of by buying a GTX 480 instead. The performance of two GTX 460 would still be less than a single GTX 480.|||No

And measure the length from start of pci express slot to the place where the graphics card could no longer extend. In my case that is the hard drive slot

Take the reading in inches.

GTX 460 is i think 11 inches or so long. SO if it is greater than lets say 13 inches. It will fit comfortably

Can i use Nvdia gtx460(DDR5) iam using intel(R)core(TM)i3 530@2.90GHZ. My_mother board no is DH55Pj?

SYSTEM MODEL(mother board noumber DH55PJ).and SYSTEM TYPE X86based PC|||If you're talking about a desktop PC, yes.

You just need a PCI-E x16 slot and your computer's power supply (smps) must meet the requirements of the GTX 460. So you'll need at least a 450-500W power supply which provides two 6-pin PCI-E power connectors, which must plug directly into the card.

There is no issue of compatibility at the motherboard level.

Can i install GTX460 on my PC ?

My Rig:

Motherboard: Intel DH61BE

Processor: Intel Core i5 2500 3.30Ghz

Memory: 4GB RAM DDR3

HDD: WD 750GB

PSU: SilverStone 500w , 2x 6pin PCI-E

... with some coller fan's

Will GTX460 works fine on my rig ???

& Thanks :)|||Since your motherboard does have a PCI-E x16 slot, and you've got a 500W PSU with 2x 6pin connectors it should work but I can't say how it will work since the card draws around 250-300W while at load, so depending on how much power your other components consume would result in how the card will work, but I think there shouldn't be any major problem.|||The card will work fine providing you have enough clearance in your case for it. Check the specs for the card measurements. Power supply is rather weak upgrade to a better brand OCZ, Thermal Take etc. 700W.

Silverstone will have weak amperage on the 12V rails.|||mi sure that with the core i5 2500k there will be plenty of processing power and no GPU bottle necking the ram is fine. im not sure about the motherboard and the psu tho|||Yes it will work very fine with the psu spec you described requires two 6 pci-e connectors for the gtx 460|||sure it will work perfectly on ur system. May be later u will need to upgrade your RAM for upcoming demanding games :)

Is the nVidia GTX460 a suitable GPU for modern gaming?

I'm working on a Gaming Build and I'm unsure whether the NVIDIA GTX460 is a good performer at modern games like Fallout, Call Of Duty, Crysis, etc and whether it will still be a decent GPU in, say, a year's time? I'm choosing a SLI-supported motherboard so if I need better performance, I can just use the second GPU to boost the performance.|||Absolutely yes it is a suitable card for modern games. I myself have an MSI Cyclone GTX 460 768MB version but if i was going to do it again i would have went with the 1GB version since it has a bus width of 256bit compared to the 192bit bus on the 768MB version, this increases the memory bandwidth to make use of that 1GB. The only reason i didn't get the 1GB version was because there was a £30 price difference at the time and i was already over budget so i went with the 768MB one.

The MSI Cyclone version runs at a really cool temperature, mine barely ever goes above 55°C with the fan left on Auto and it's very quiet. MSI cards comes with the MSI Afterburner software which supports GPU over-volt which won't void the warranty if you use it and it can allow you to get clock speeds in excess of 900Mhz on the core. Personally i have only played about the voltage very very sparingly and decided just to leave the voltage alone and overclock it on the default stock voltage which has allowed me to get a clock speed of 875Mhz on the core (shader clock linked to core) and 2100Mhz on the memory (that's 2100 x 2).

If you are going to have the option of adding a second GTX 460 later on then you will have a very decent system that should definitely handle the vast majority of games on High settings with AA no bother.

With the GTX 460 768MB version i can run DiRT 2 with High settings and 3 on Ultra at 1280 x 1024 (i could probably get 1600 x 1200 easily) with x8 AA and it runs beautifully, i didn't think it would handle it at those settings but it does with very playable framerates 60FPS easy.

I have F1 2010 and that runs everything on High with 1 on Ultra at 1600 x 1200 x4AA and it runs really nicely too, probably around 45FPS + i benchmarked it using the ingame benchmark and it had an average FPS of 49 with a low of 41. I

I played Crysis on my PC too and i was impressed with the results however since i was using the 64 bit version the MSI Afterburner On Screen Display (ala Rivatuner) didn't work and i can't really recall what the framerates where like and i have since reinstalled Windows and i haven't reinstalled Crysis but the settings where High and the framerates good.

I have Call of Duty Black Ops installed and it runs really nicely but i am slightly disappointed because in some of the most intensive parts of the game the framerate can drop to around 35 or 30 but generally it runs nicely, the Video options in Call of Duty is fairly limited. The thing about Call of Duty Black Ops is the GPU usage seems to be really poor, i have seen some people mention that in SLI it barely uses the second card at all and for me with 1 card i have seen the GPU usage in the 40 - 50% region, i haven't paid THAT much attention to it but i did notice it at the start because i had read about it before i played the game. I have to say i don't know how my system would handle Call of Duty Black Ops online since i have em, technical issues, yea that's it, technical issues with playing that game online :P

The main problem i have is i am running Windows 7 with only 2GB of RAM so that is going to impact on some of the games where 4GB is really best for Windows 7

The only thing that would bother me about getting a new video card today is the GTX 500 series is just coming out and i am wondering what the GTX 460 equivalent would be like, i can't really comment on that cause i don;t know when that will happen. Right now, if i was happy to go ahead and buy a GTX 460 i would go for the Gigabyte GTX 460 OC 1GB on ebuyer that comes with a voucher for the HAWX 2 game, other than that i would definitely get the MSI Cyclone 1GB version, it's a great overclocker and runs really cool and quiet.

If you need more advice i suggest you join the Guru3D forum, they will help you out and give you all the options you should consider.

My system specs are

Phenom X4 955 3.2Ghz

Asus M4A87TD USB3

2GB DDR3 1600

MSI Cyclone GTX 460 768MB

Will you be getting a suitable power supply that will be able to handle SLI if you eventually do get a second card?|||There are many cheap power supplies with high wattage rating but very low 12v amp ratings which is what is important for a video card. eVGA recommend 24 amps on the 12v rail(s) this means you need a power supply that has 24 amps across the 12v rails.

|||the 460 is actually one of the best cards for the money and will handle any new game with out a problem. and actually, if you get 2 460's it cheaper and faster then buying one 480. i wouldnt hesitate to choose that card
